Chapter 25: Goodbye, My Clumsy Self

General Bowman could not comprehend the situation in front of him.

Defeating the sea serpent so easily, the silver doll swung a serpent’s corpse, killing his own men.

What the hell!? That doll!! The plan was going well until yesterday. Even if there was a mermaid that will oppose me, I will strike them down with power. But then, why is this happening?

Although General Bowman reprimanded his soldiers, he himself brandished his weapon and dashed towards the silver doll. It seems he did not believe the reality in front of his eyes so he stopped thinking about it and head for death itself.

****

Swish. Tok, tok tok tok.

[Log: Golem dealt 70 overall damage to the Fishmen.]

[Log: Fishmen died.]

This is bad; holding back alone won’t cut it. Without momentum, the whip will remain at the ground making it impossible to move.

I let go of the whip, hitting a round fishman squarely on the face. It seems that he was a puffer fishman.

Squash

[Log: Golem dealt 15 damage to Fishman.]

Hey, that was good. The round fishman was blown away but there is no log that announced his death. He should still be alive.

As expected, I can really do it. Holding back, that is. I should just restrain myself from using weapons because my kindness won’t be conveyed to my opponents with them equipped. Well, rather than kindness, if weapons are used, it will inflict damage depending on the stats of the equipment.

For example, if you have a sickle, you can only choose the grasses that can be cut with it whereas with a lawnmower’s rotating blades, every grass it passes gets cut without fail, not needing to choose what gets cut.

Anyway, from now on, I’ll try to be careful when using weapons. My bare hands would be enough. I only had troubles because I don’t have any long ranged attacks but with hard work, it should be alright.

Goodbye, whip. You’re discarded. And so, goodbye my clumsy self. I shall persist on the Dao of Golem as I can! I shall not rely on external power1!

That said, I changed my mind and faced the fishmen. Oh, Mambo, no, General Bowman wants to attack first? It’s bad for the commander to personally come out you know? In other words, I wanted you to retreat fast. I have already trimmed 30% of the enemy’s soldiers. A respectable commander usually orders retreat with the situation at hand.

It’s already bad for the opponent even with me holding back. It’s my policy to give mercy to my opponents. I want to be generous to General Bowman. Oops, the whip (sea serpent’s corpse) caught my feet. My foothold collapsed.

Because of that, the momentum from hand increased and hits the general.

Pak

[Log: Golem dealt 20 damage to Fishman.]

General Bowman was blown away. Safe2! Just now, my damage was higher but he was still alive. That was dangerous. I was tense; I didn’t know how much HP he has. It might be that the general was stronger than other soldiers.

Due to the defeat of their general, the fishmen faltered. Everybody seems to fear me. Fufufu. Run away while you can!

It seems that my thoughts were transmitted as they carried General Bowman away, collected those who were still breathing and escaped through the entrance of the barrier. Everybody who wants to escape, fled.  I will not chase those who escaped.

Ah? But the mermaid country had a barrier, can they get out? Currently, the ones who tried to escape were the fishmen with no mermaids with them. I wonder if the barrier will repel them.

Oh well, it seems that they passed without problems. It may be impossible to enter from the outside but it seems it is not the case from the people inside to go out. Well, it was good the fishmen ran away. It is bad for me to face desperate soldiers without an escape route. A cornered rat will bite a cat after all. It’s no use pressuring them.

****

Now then, let’s tally the casualties. Two sea serpents and multiple fishmen, dead. Amen. Surprisingly, the one who did this disastrous scene was me.

It is hard for a former Japanese like me to leave those corpses strewn around. Death is equal on enemies and allies alike. I’ll just arrange them beautifully.

Also, I rolled the sea serpents’ dead bodies nicely. Especially the serpent I used as a whip, I caressed its corpse giving a thank you. Somehow, I felt awesome.

Finally, I brought my hands together and prayed for the dead happiness for their next life.

Then I recalled Pinky and walked side by side heading to towards the royal palace.
